Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the PGA Tour’s only official team event, played annually at TPC Louisiana in the New Orleans suburb of Avondale. Designed by Pete Dye, the course features wide fairways, risk‑reward water hazards, and challenging Bermuda greens — a perfect setting for team competition.

The unique format pairs two‑man teams competing in fourball (best ball) and alternate shot (foursomes) over four rounds. The team chemistry and strategic partnership often produce birdie streaks and dramatic moments.

Since becoming a team event in 2017, the Zurich Classic has attracted top international pairings and created a lively atmosphere in New Orleans, blending world‑class golf with the city’s famous hospitality.

🏌️ TPC Louisiana Course Overview

Par 72 | ~7,425 yards | Established 2004

TPC Louisiana, a Pete Dye design, weaves through wetlands and cypress trees near the Mississippi River. Generous landing areas are balanced by intricate water hazards and strategic bunkering, rewarding teamwork and aggressive play in the team format.

Quick Course Overview

Since 2005, TPC Louisiana has hosted the Zurich Classic. The layout features wide, forgiving fairways but demands precision on approach shots to undulating Bermudagrass greens. Water comes into play on nearly half the holes, creating risk‑reward opportunities that suit the team competition.

The Zurich Classic Legacy

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans dates back to 1938, making it one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour. Since moving to TPC Louisiana in 2005, and especially after adopting the team format in 2017, it has carved a unique identity.

The team format (fourball and alternate shot) encourages camaraderie rarely seen on Tour. Top players often team up — Major champions, Ryder Cup partners, college teammates — creating compelling storylines and a festive atmosphere.

With New Orleans as the backdrop, the Zurich Classic is as much a celebration of golf and culture as it is a competition. The city's spirit infuses the tournament, from the cajun cuisine in the hospitality tents to the jazz bands along the fairways.

As the only official team event, the Zurich Classic holds a special place on the PGA Tour schedule — where individual rivalries give way to partnership, and a birdie feels twice as sweet when you share it.
