Welcome to CaddyBytes tournament page for the 2007 European Masters and pictures of the host golf course Crans Sur Sierre golf club located at the village of Crans Montana and nestled high above the village of Sierre, Switzerland -in the heart of the Swiss Alps.  Crans Montana is actually a compilation of two towns sitting side by side filled with hotels, and Swiss chalets, offering both golf in the summer time and skiing in the winter in an all inclusive resort atmosphere.  Sitting nearly a mile above sea level and surrounded by beautiful vistas of the Swiss Alps enveloping the area, there is an entire plethora of great Italian and French restaurants and a good variety of others as well, all located in walking distance within both towns.  There is excellent bus and taxi service and just about whatever accommodations your budget may desire.  Whether it's shopping for unique swiss watches or designer clothing it's all possible in the hundreds of shops lining the side streets of this great resort area during your golf and travel European escape in these beautiful Swiss resort towns.  And it's only another 50 or so miles to visit northern Italy while on your golf or skiing vacation there in Switzerland.  The languages native to this area of Switzerland are French, Italian, and German, but most all speak English as well there.  So if it's golf you desire in the summer time, or skiing in the winter, Crans Montana, nestled above the small village of Sierre, Switzerland, is the perfect golf, ski, travel European escape destination of a lifetime!

Here are some great pictures of the area taken from golf course views via -the Crans-Sur-Sierre golf club -home annually to the Omega European Masters on the European PGA Tour!
Our first picture is a look at the fairway at and you can see here how the fairways here in the summer are for golf and in the winter are for skiing!

Many of the fairways of the Crans-Sur-Sierre golf club parallel one other in this fashion and slope away from the clubhouse and nearby mountains allowing for some great golf in the summer and become ski trails in the winter as well.   All located at an elevation of nearly a mile high up in the 'foothills' of the Swiss Alps.
You can see how this gentleman is playing golf here in the summer months and can be skiing down the same 'slope' in the winter as well!  (There's actually a ski lift that runs through the golf course!)

This picture (right) is of the par five
14th green looking across it to the
Swiss Chalets nearby and the Alps in the distance.

Crans Montana is actually a compilation of two towns nestled above the town of Sierre surrounded by beautiful vistas of the Swiss Alps enveloping the area.

The language of native Switzerland is French, Italian, German.  There is a variety of great Italian and French restaurants in both towns.  Northern Italy is located only 50 miles away to the south of this great golf ski travel resort area.

And, when it comes to ordering food in the numerous native Italian and French European restaurants -English is a common language here amongst the service staff as they attempt to honor both your culinary and shopping desires!

In this picture (left) of the tee shot of the long (500 yard) fourth hole at you get a good idea of the beauty of the mature native fir, birch, and hardwood trees that make up this part of Switzerland and so beautifully line this golf hole (as well as many of the holes at the Crans-Sur-Sierre golf club)

You can take a ski lift up to the highest peak nearby to sample the views and the natural forests of the land.   And take a tram car down to the small village of Sierre to shop or eat for the day.
The trains travel regularly out of Sierre to Geneva, Lucerne, or wherever else in Switzerland or Europe that your golf, ski, or travel desires may require.

This is the backdrop behind the tee of the short par four seventh hole at the Crans-Sur-Sierre golf club.

While the golfer in the pictures warms up his swing about to play the hole in the tournament there you can see the crane and construction of a new chalet type of hotel in the background.

There's no shortage of affordably priced  accommodations in the Crans Montana resort area.   There are hundreds of small and large hotels and many with spectacular views of the Alps as well.

And the view from this one is off the side of this mountain and looks miles into the valley in the distance!
The next picture (left) is of that spectacular seventh hole as you are looking from the tee to the green.  (It's drivable for the golfing professionals playing in the Omega Masters each year here)

Again you see the great vista of the Swiss Alps to the East, South, and West off of this tee.  There are glaciers with their year round snow caps off in the distance in this view.
This is a fun short golf hole that is enjoyable for both the professional and amateur golfer.

The view (right) is of the par four finishing hole at the Crans-Sur-Sierre golf club.  Here is the second shot view into the amphitheatre of grandstands that surrounds the 18th green at the Omega European Masters there.

The chateau behind the green is the clubhouse and  the backdrop behind that all in walking distance are the towns of Crans Montana.

There are plenty of shops throughout both towns here to find that unique item like a genuine swiss watch, jewelry, or specialty clothing.

Hope you've enjoyed these pictures and we've helped you to decide where to golf travel or ski when you travel to Europe.

Make sure that your travel plans to Europe include a stop to beautiful Crans Surre Sierre and Crans Montana above the town of Sierre and only two hours by train from Geneva in the heart of the Swiss Alps!
