2013 Greenbrier Classic Live Scoring:

The inaugural Greenbrier Classic - was played in 2010 and is in it's third year as a tournament stop on the PGA Tour replacing the time slot previously held by the Buick Open in the Grand Blanc MI (that tournament went 51 years). Both are a result of the post banking crashed economy circa 2008 when Buick died and Jim Justice bought the resort out of bankruptcy in May of 2009 to the tune of 20.1 Million Dollars.  The PGA Tour and Greenbrier Classic have extended their contract through the 2021 season. 

The golf course is a classic and this event has been well supported since it's inception. Here in 2013 Phil Mickelson & Webb Simpson headline an otherwise decent rank and file field but with this tournament sandwiched between John Deere next week and the British Open in two. (Entrants get to catch the shuttle to Muirfield and then that trip over the pond from there next week). As a result many marquee players have taken the week off. There is still a decent list of former major championship winners playing this week and the folks in West Virginia should have a good time watching here this fourth of July Holiday week.

The previous winners of the Greenbrier Classic include Stuart Appleby, Scott Stallings, with Ted Potter Jr. defending here this week after winning the event last year in 2012.

The tournament will be played on the Greenbrier Resort's Old White golf course originally designed by C.B. MacDonald at the turn of the century.
