π 2026 Open Championship Field Hub
2026 Open Championship Field Overview
The Open Championship, often called the British Open, returns to Royal Birkdale Golf Club for The 154th Open. The championship proper is scheduled for July 16-19, 2026, with tournament week activities beginning earlier at Royal Birkdale.
The field is built through a global R&A system of past champions, recent major winners, top finishers from the previous Open, world ranking categories, FedExCup and Race to Dubai routes, Federation Ranking List places, amateur champions, the Open Qualifying Series, Regional Qualifying, Final Qualifying, and a new Last-Chance Qualifier.
Field status: CaddyBytes currently lists 110 players already exempt for Royal Birkdale. The starting field is 156 players, so this page remains an active pre-championship field tracker as additional places are filled through late-May, June, and early-July qualification paths.

π’ CaddyBytes Field Update Note
This page has been updated from the older placeholder field page into a working 2026 Open Championship field tracker. It now separates the full 110-player current exempt list, champion/major routes, OWGR and tour-list routes, Open Qualifying Series results, amateur exemptions, and late field movement. The next update should come after the Mizuno Open and then after the Memorial Tournament, RBC Canadian Open, Final Qualifying, Genesis Scottish Open, and Last-Chance Qualifier.
