Welcome to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for the 2016 Senior British Open golf tournament played at the Carnoustie golf links in Scotland, UK. The Senior British Open was first held in 1987 and is an official money event recognized by the Champions Tour as well as the European Senior Tour.  In 2003 The Senior Open Championship was designated as a fifth major on the Champions Tour.Previously, Turnberry's Alisa Course hosted 7 times, Royal Portrush 5, Royal County Down three, and Royal Lytham and St. Annes four times, Sunningdale a couple times and Royal Birkdale once since the tournaments inception in 1987.The Senior Open Championship is run by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews Scotland. Past winners include Tom Watson (3 Times), Bernhard Langer (twice), Gary Player (couple times), and more recently Fred Couples, Loren Roberts, with Marco Dawson defending here in 2016 after winning last year at the Sunningdale GC.
