Welcome to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for the 2016 PGA Championship golf tournament played at the Baltusrol GC in Springfield Township, NJ. The PGA Championship sponsored by the Professional Golfers Association of America is the seasons official fourth major golf championship of the year. Played annually in August it's early this year because of the Olympics in Rio. The tournament began in 1916 and was annually a match play event with a change of that venue to stroke play beginning in 1958 and to the present date. The PGA is also the governing body for certified golf club professionals in America. The tournament is held in a rotating format as are three of the four majors discluding the Masters which is always held at Augusta CC in Georgia. Greats of the game who've won this event include Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Tommy Armour, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Larry Nelson, Lee Trevino, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods.
