Welcome to CaddyBytes.com’s Tournament's page for the 2016 Greenbrier Classic golf tournament played at the Greenbrier resort in WV. The initial Greenbrier Classic was played in 2010 and is in it's sixth year as a tournament stop on the PGA Tour replacing the time slot previously held by the Buick Open in the Grand Blanc MI (that tournament went 51 years). Both are a result of the post banking crashed economy circa 2008 when Buick died and Jim Justice bought the resort out of bankruptcy in May of 2009 to the tune of 20.1 Million Dollars. The PGA Tour and Greenbrier Classic have a contract through the 2021 season. Here in 2016 the extreme flooding in W. Va had the golf course under water two weeks ago and the event has been cancelled for this year. Previous winners include Stuart Appleby Scott Stallings, Ted Potter, Jonas Blixt, Angel Cabrera, and defending champion here the next time that this event is played will be Danny Lee who won it in 2015. |
